This year’s Taste of the Future Schools Cooking Competition saw some amazing cooking vying for the winner position. The event was held on Thursday 20th June 2024 where nine high school students battled it out in the kitchen in a Master Chef style cook-off for a chance to win the HGT Taste of the Future Schools Cooking Competition. With our three judges Don Hancey – WA Food Ambassador, Ally Simes – Chef Ambassador and David Gilmore walking the floor, the students handled the pressure like true pros (no reality TV drama in sight!).
The Competition is open to all Year 11 and Year 12 students throughout Western Australia where each school can enter only one student to represent their school. Now in it’s 11th year, the competition has seen some extremely talented individuals competing for the title. This year Lewis Wilkins from Bob Hawke College took the crown with his Middle Eastern Pomegranate Chicken Maryland served with Chickpea Salad and Baba Ghanoush.
